ROD PASSED AWAY AGED 54 YEARS AFTER FIGHTING PROSTRATE AND BONE CANCER THAT TOOK THE USE OF HIS ARMS
AND LEGS. HE STARTED OFF HAVING PAINS IN HIS HIPS BUT WAS TOLD BY OUR GP THAT HE HAD A GROIN STRAIN.
AFTER REPEATED TRIPS FOR OVER A YEAR THEY FINALLY DID AN X-RAY, THAT AFTERNOON WE WERE TOLD HE HAD
TERMINAL BONE CANCER. HE HAD A SCAN TWO DAYS LATER THAT SHOWED HE HAD CANCER FROM HIS SCULL TO HIS
TOES.ROD COULD NOT HANDLE THE DIAGNOSIS AND BECAME VERY ANGRY TO THE ONE PERSON CLOSEST TO HIM!!!HE
WAS ONLY GIVEN SIX MONTHS TO LIVE BUT HIS SHEER ANGER GAVE HIM SIX YEARS. HIS STRENGTH AMAZED
EVERYONE. HE WOULD NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO GIVE HIM A TABLET OR INJECTION WITHOUT A BATTLE OF REASON.
THIS STRENGTH KEPT HIM GOING. SADLY THE CANCER PARALISED HIS NERVES TO HIS THROAT SO HE COULD NO
LONGER EAT OR DRINK. HE WENT INTO THE HOSPICE FOR PAIN RELIEF. THEY SAID HE WOULD NOT LAST THE
NIGHT. I PROMISED HIM I WOULD NOT LEAVE HIM. HE PROVED THEM WRONG AGAIN AS I SAT BY HIS BED
CONTINUALLY FOR ANOTHER TEN DAYS UNTIL HIS PASSING. NOW FREE FROM PAIN AND SAFE IN THE ARMS OF THE
ANGELS XXX ROD LEFT BEHIND JAN, STEPCHILDREN EMMA PAUL AND KATY. XXXX

She did all that she could do.

I cannot place the call,

I reckon I've tried them all.

That he could let you stay.

Wedding band

A teardrop fell upon your picture
As i held it tight in my hand
My eyes were an ocean of tears
All im left with is a wedding band

There's no way to look to the future
Not when im haunted by my past
Ive pleaded i dont lose my mind
For i want your memorys to last

Ive whispered it a thousand times
So instead of actions and words

✿..LET US REMEMBER THEM...✿

✿ 'Please wear a poppy', the lady said
and held one forth, but I shook my head.
Then I stopped and watched as she offered them there,
And her face was old, and lined with care;
But beneath the scars the years had made
There remained a smile that refused to fade.✿

✿ A boy came wistling down the street,
Bouncing along, on care free feet
His smile was full of joy and fun,
'Lady', said he, 'May I have one?'
When she pinned it on, he turned to say,
'Why do we wear a poppy today?'✿

✿ The lady smiled in her wistful way,
and answered, 'This is Rememberance Day,
And the poppy there is the symbol for,
the gallant men who died in war,
and because they died you and I are free--
Thats why we wear a poppy, you see'.✿

✿ 'I had a boy about your size,
with golden hair and big blue eyes.
He loved to play and jump and shout,
free as a bird he would race about.
As the years went by, he learned and grew
and became a man--as you will, too.' ✿

✿ 'He was fine and strong, with a boyish smile,
but he'd seemed with us such a little while
When war broke out and he went away,
I still remember his face that day.
When he smiled at me and said'Good-bye,
I'll soon be back, mom, so please don't cry'.✿

✿ 'But the war went on and he had to stay,
and all I could do was wait and pray.
His letters told of the awful fight,
(I can see it in my dreams at night),
with the tanks and guns and cruel Barbed wire,
and the mines and bullets, the bombs and fire.'✿

✿'Till at last the war was won-
and thats why we wear a poppy son'.
The small boy turned as if to go,
Then said 'Thanks lady, I'm glad to know.
That sure did sound like an awful fight,
But your Son-- did he come back alright?'✿

✿ A tear rolled down each faded cheek;
she shook her head, but didn't speak.
I slunk away in a sort of shame,
and if you were me you'd have done the same;
For our thanks, in giving, is oft delayed,
though our freedome was bought-and thousands paid.✿

✿ And so when we see a poppy worn, let us reflect on the burden borne
By those who gave their very all
and asked to answer their country's call
That we at home in peace might live.
Then wear a poppy. Remember-- and give!✿

~Life Beyond ~

Let them go, but not completely.
Hold on to them, but not too tightly.
Love them as you know you will,
as you always have.

Rejoice that they are well, the only difference
now is that you cannot see them,
But you feel them still and they will always be with you.
The spirit does not die as the body dies
and Love is of the spirit.

Nothing you have experienced together can be taken from you.
And your loved one shall be eternally yours in that love.
Weep not too long, that they may also cry,
But rejoice in their life and in yours also.
Let yours continue to be a celebration of all life; of your shared love,
Knowing that God holds you both in the palm of his hand
And in loving you both shall reunite you.
